How do I set up a Grandstream GXP1625 phone?

How do I register a Grandstream GXP1625 series IP phone?

Note: Below are GXP1625 screenshots, but the setup for most of the Grandstream Series is exactly the same.

1) Getting started

Detailed setup instructions can be found in the box.

Grandstream phones can be powered using either the manufacturer's supplied PSU adaptor or data and power can use the LAN port 48V POE 802.3af.

2) Find out your VoIP credentials

This information can be found in your account dashboard.

To set up your VoIP account on your phone you will need your

  • SIP Username <SIP Username>
  • SIP Password <your_password>
  • Host/server: <voip_server>

3) Log into the Grandstream phone’s web user interface using its IP address

To find out the IP address from the phone: Go to NextScr and this will then show you the IP address on the phone’s screen. For example : 192.168.1.xxx

Navigate to this IP address from a computer, and enter the Grandstream  default username (admin) and password (admin) in the login page (It is recommended to change these to something secure).

4) Navigate to the "Account" section and enter the credentials

Once logged in, click “Account - Account 1 - General Settings” at the top. Then enter your VoIP credentials into the relevant fields:

  • Account Active: Change to “Yes”
  • Account Name: Any Text (e.g. VoIPon Talk)
  • SIP Server: <voip_server>
  • SIP User ID: <SIP Username>
  • Authenticate ID: <SIP Username>
  • Authenticate Password: <your_password>
  • Name: Any Text (e.g. Name of user)

Scroll to the bottom and click "Save and Apply."

Check the “Account Status” is “Yes”.

The phone has successfully been registered and enabled for use with your VoIP account.
